The Specialized Prosecutor’s Office, together with the State Agency for National Security and the State Agency for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, conducts active investigative actions in criminal proceedings for crimes against the Republic of Sofia, Pleven, Blagoevgrad, Razgrad, Haskovo, Plovdiv and Lovech.
The subject of the investigation is the activity of a group of foreign citizens in organizing and realizing on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria unregulated money transfers in and out of the country in particularly large amounts under the so- "hawaii" method within
an international organized criminal group.
At the request of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office, the Specialized Criminal Court issued 126 search and seizure permits - in 50 addresses of homes and offices and 26 cars, as well as searches of 50 persons, the special prosecution announced.
Under the conditions of urgency, as the only opportunity to collect evidence, 7 searches and seizures were performed. In the course of the investigation were seized documents, money 32 000 euros and others.things. 43 persons are detained for a term of up to 24 hours under the LMI, and within this detention, the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office will analyze the collected evidence and assess the future procedural quality of the detainees.
It was found that the main organizer of the criminal activity - a Syrian citizen residing in Bulgaria, detained in Sofia, carrying out unauthorized “hawaii” - translations, came into contact with persons carrying out activities
logistical support to international terrorist organizations ,
as well as persons who are reported to be related to the financing of terrorism and other criminal activities.
The conduct of the operation is preceded by a one-year work of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office with the Bulgarian security services and the partner security services of the EU member states.
